Reaching Level 60 in Mass Effect

Ok so I haven’t personally reached level 60 in this, the husband did but I just thought I’d share what he learnt from it. (Although considering the game has been out for a few years there are probably already tips about on this.)

C made it in two play throughs, the first starting from level 1 and reaching level 53 playing through on Hardcore difficulty.  He did the second play through on Insanity level, and even then, with all that additional XP it was still a close call to hitting level 60 before he got to the end of the game. You need pretty much the same amount of XP to get from level 50 to level 60 that you did to get from level 1 to level 50. He managed it though, with about 5 enemies left before the last big boss fight.

How?

First you need to do every side quest in the game on both play throughs. If you’ve never you won’t understand how tidious this can be enemies have an annoying habit of merging with walls when you use biotics on them add that to them having huge hit points due to the difficulty and this is not fun. Additionally all bases on the worlds are shaped the same, which if you think about it does make sense as the buildings are pre-fabs to make it easy to set them up on new worlds. In a game however this makes them really boring, there is nothing new to look at.

Second. Kill everything ON FOOT. Yes you heard me, on foot, you get a lot more XP from killing something on foot then you do if you use the Mako. (Plus on Insanity level your character can take more damage then the tank can.) But seriously creatures like Thresher Maws and Colossus’ give about 2000 XP each when you take them on foot.

Also as a side note it seems a lot easier to take a Thresher Maw on foot then in the Mako, you have a tendancy to over shoot in the Mako and driving around so you aren’t hit and aiming the gun turret can be awkward. Running in a circle around it shooting it with your pistol looked a lot easier (It also helps that your level 58 or 59 by this point).

Really though I think that’s it, if we’d realised the whole taking things out on foot gives you much more XP C would have hit level 60 a lot earlier than right at the end game.  Still it is doable.

Thanks for this post! I’m playing ME1 right now, trying to reach lvl 60, and just now found out that characters could be replayed 🙂

  2. How can you reach level 53 on your first playthrough? Isn’t the level cap only raised from 50 to 60 on your second playthrough?

Reaching Level 60 is possible only if you
    1) survey every Metals, gases, writings, ID tags and other UNC assignments.
1.1) Scan every planet and asteroids in every cluster there are many assignments which are available to you only if you go to that star system.
    2) You must Unlock and Decrypt every Terminal, Upgrade kit and Crate, (“make sure your Shepard has Master talents in Electronics and Decryption, if not then take Kaidan or Garrus with you on missions or assignments (My Shepard is Solder so I take Garrus against Geth and Kaidan against Biotic enemies for my second partner I take Liara (“My lover”) or Wrex. I hate Ashley and I was very very happy on Virmire.
(Just by doing step 2 you can collect up to 50,000 experience (XP) points”)
    3) Never ever in any case use Mako to kill someone, you will loose half experience points (just forget your Mako has any firing option. Example, you will get 400 to 500 XP by killing Thresher Maw by Mako and 900 to 1000 XP by killing yourself)
    4) Talk to Humans, Aliens on every location they get you up to 133 XP just for talking plus possibly you could get an assignments and paragon or renegade points.
4.1) Depends on your choice you can collect paragon or renegade points make you collect up to 75% of paragon or renegade points this can give you some additional assignments from Alliance.
4.2) There are 2 additional assignments just by talking to Wrex and Garrus. Ever now and then talk to them about personal life.
4.3) Move around Citadel and Normandy there are at least 8 to 10 new assignments for XP and paragon or renegade points.
    5) Download and Play Bring down the sky and Pinnacle station DLC it will boost your XP points and Cash by up to 20%
    6) And remember you have to play Full mass effect game 2 times to get to Level 60.
    7) For first play through select your difficultly to “Veteran” and for second select “Hardcore”. If you do not reach at level 60 after second play through
you are doing something Insanely wrong thus play third time with “Insanity” difficulty selected.
    8) If you are playing just because you want to import your Shepard in Mass effect 2 and don’t have time to play according to rules then there are some game glitches which can give you free XP points just follow this steps
6.1)Found in the Prothean ruins located in Therum. After clearing the cavern of geth the player activates the mining laser and travels up an elevator the floor on which Liara is imprisoned. The player will receive experience points after stepping off of the elevator platform and onto the blue tile. Save immediately into a new slot, in case you need a prior load for backup purposes. It is critical to save before speaking with Liara. After the save is complete, proceed to the “Load” menu and select the file you just created. You will receive experience points again upon loading the game.
6.2)A terminal inside the Feros freighter can be hacked after each save/load cycle.
6.3)A crate in the tunnels on the Prothean skyway on Feros can be unlocked after each save/load cycle. This will also spawn random loot each time.
6.4)A crate in the last room inside the Science Station on Chasca can be decrypted after each save/load cycle. Milky Way / Maroon Sea / Matano System / Second planet
6.5)The lock on the sewer door in the Virmire base can be decrypted after each save/load cycle.

    7) I love Mass Effect I haven’t play mass effect 2 and 3 just waiting to get some free time. I have reached Level 60 in between Virmire Mission on second play through.

Thank you for reading my notes and happy killing some Geth a**.
