Well the Olympics are over for another 4 years and wow what an Olympics it was.
I’m sure I remember seeing something on the news about how for 2012 the British team were aiming for 19 golds, and I can’t remember how many silver or bronze, and I thought to myself, “Hmm, well that’s unlikely to happen”. I’m just too used to getting disappointed in the Football, Cricket, Rugby and all that.
You can imagine then that this Olympics turned out to be a rather pleasant surprise for me and probably a lot of other people.
19 Golds, 13 Silvers and 15 Bronze for at total of 47 Medals. Meaning that we can 4th.. FOURTH in the medals table, behind China (with 100 medals, 51 Gold), USA (with 110 medals, 36 Gold) and Russia (72 medals, 23 Gold). WOW.
We got 14 medals alone from the cyclists, with sailing, rowing and canoeing giving us quite a few more. The Australians, have joked that we only do well in the sitting down sports.. I think they might be a little bitter
It was an amazing games, especially when you consider that both China and the USA had over 600 athletes each, while Britain had about half that number. And our best medal haul in 100 years.
Now I’m looking forward to 2012 (I’m just going to have to learn to cope with that god awful logo thou), and I’m definitely getting tickets to see.. something.. maybe the cycling? Swimming? Something at least!

Yes I know I’ve only just posted a post, and I suppose I could have combined the two, but well I started writing my Pride post a few days ago, and if I’d gotten around to it and posted it when I’d started then.. this would have been a separate post anyway. So..
(Yes I’m aware I’m babbling like a silly thing)
I went to Boxercise for the first time since.. last August I believe. The evilness of having uni classes on Tuesday evening’s prevented me from going at all really since then. So me and E went for the first time in ages, and well I’d forgotten just how hard it is! I built up a serious sweat and I’m quite glad each bit is broken down into sections, even so I did feel like my arms were going to drop off at one point. It does give you a real good feeling though afterwards and amazingly I don’t ache as much as I thought I would today thou.
I’m going to have to try and make sure I don’t leave such a long gap between classes again, actually it’d be great if I could go every other weak or so. Would help to build up that upper body strength that I’m sorely lacking!
My Weekend 15 October 2007

I’ve had a pretty good weekend!
Friday night I ended up going clubbing to a club that I’ve known about for a while but never been too, and now I don’t understand why i’ve never been before. It’s a goth/rock/metal club, so the kind of music that I like and can dance to. Was a lot of fun!
Saturday? Well Saturday was all about the RWC Semi Final between England and France! And gosh that was tense! untill the last 15 minutes there was only a point in it, with France having the winning point, and the way they were playing I was convinced they were going to win. But! Oh a penalty and a drop goal from Mr Jonny Wilkinson and off to the final we go!
I’m quite psyched! I didn’t get to watch the Rugby last world cup, and now after England were pretty much written off in their first match (SA beat us 36-0) we’re in the final! Against SA…. sooo while we may not win I’m still pretty happy! Although would be great if we could get revenge for that rather crushing defeat in the group stages.
Sunday I spent working on coursework BUT my friend went to a knitting and stitch show and bought me a pair of namaste needles (pyrex)
now I just have to find a pattern that needs 5mm needles so that I can try them out and see what their like! Then I did a silly thing and went and looked at namaste’s website… *drool* they have some nice knitting bags that could work just as well as normal handbags, and what impressed me most was the file-o-fax for your knitting needles!
And this morning? I discover that my fave band has now got a new singer (which they’ve had for a few months so I’m behind the times with this news I guess) and have a new album out! I’ve heard a few tracks from it and it is really good!
They still sound like Nightwish
soo must get new album now!
Hmm a bit of an overkill on exclamation marks for this entry I think…?
