(I started writing this post and then lost it >_< so here goes again.)

I hope everyone had a good Christmas (if you celebrate it) :) I did, although I spent the day filling up on tea because I was absolutely exhausted. I was up till 3.30am finishing off my mum’s stole, and wrapping presents. The stole isn’t complexly finished yet, it does still need blocking, but I finished knitting it! :D Haven’t got any pics yet but I will do, I’ll probably write up a blog post for it. But I thought I’d share some of the shiny things that I received, just because they are so very very shiny! :D

Is this not a very pretty handbag? I was browsing through M&S website with my mum, but I didn’t’ actually expect to get this! I was thinking I could maybe use it to carry my current knitting project in (whatever that may be), its a decent size. :)

And then I also got these:
Pattern Books

There are so many patterns in Heartfelt that I want to knit, so little time and so much money! I also got some really yummy wool, so I can now make a start on this. Is it not pretty? And the yarn is a really nice colour, and very soft, its made out of soy. :)

SWTC Oasis Solid - Soy Silk

And finally what really makes me go squee!

Knit Picks Needles

Knit Picks Harmony needles! They are so utterly smooth its amazing, I really can’t wait to knit on them and look how amazingly tiny they are!

Knit Picks Needles

Ohh I can’t wait to get knitting on them!

Well I can’t really talk too much about what I’m knitting, could potentially spoil a few things, but, I’m progressing well I think. I’ll have photo’s and the like once people have received theirs. :)

But I can post a picture of something I’m knitting for myself, I’ve managed to lose my winter hat, I’m pretty sure it’s in my room somewhere, I’m just not sure where! As such I am in need of a new winter hat! Luckily I found this pattern on Ravelry: Hannah Doesn’t it look spiffy? :)

So I got myself some yarn on Sunday, its Alpaca, I’ve never used it before and I have to say it is amazingly soft. I will admit to stopping what I’m doing every now and then to give it a feel. It’s amazing! I have completed the bit that I had to do on the straight needles, as you can see below.

Hat

And now I’m currently waiting for the dpns that I need to turn up from GetKnitted, I had hoped they’d arrive today, but hopefully tomorrow! I really want to finish this so I can wear it. :)

So we’ve had frozen berries sitting around in our freezer for months, and now my brother is back home for xmas, my mum had to buy more food, and the freezer was a little short on space. So we decided it was finally time to turn the berries into Jam. (We meant to do this months ago, the 5KG bag of sugar has just been sitting around taken up space.) So out come the berries, all 7lbs of them. For those of you who are curious they are Loganberries which according to Wikipedia are a “cross between the raspberry cultivar ‘Red Antwerp’ and the American blackberry cultivar ‘Aughinburgh’.” Source

I remember when I was younger I used to see my mum make jam out of the raspberries we used to have in our back garden, but that was a long time ago, its nice to know how to make jam. All you need is an equal amount of sugar and berries. And a rather fancy thermometer which lets you know when the mixture is at jam temperature. :) Very useful.

So, this is what happens when you pour 7lbs of sugar onto frozen berries, we probably should have let them defrost a bit more first..
Sugar!

Slush puppy!

..because this is what it gives you… a very sugary slush puppy, doesn’t it look tasty? :/

Hot Jam

Ahh.. thats better!
Jam!

And finally.. what a mess! But doesn’t it look tasty? :)  This is the first time I’ve ever had Loganberry Jam and I have to say it’s really tasty! (The fact that I like it is probably a good thing, we do have an awful lot of it!)

Ok so when talking about wool my mum mentioned that she had a whole mass of black wool that she’d gotten from my granny years back. I have now acquired it off her. :) I *think* its DK, and I have noooo idea how much is there, nor indeed where the actual end of the yarn is.. which might be a bit of a problem. :S  But I’m hoping there’s enough maybe for a jumper..? or something. I shall have to nosey at patterns on Ravelry. :) Maybe this one http://www.cosmicpluto.com/blog/?p=402
